I've been working with the great author of the Aona series,  Simon Williams on his last book "Summer's Dark Waters". I worked on the cover and there are several illustrations inside.

Yesterday...

...I was listening to the last album from the Deftones. It's excellent.

And I speedpainted that. I called it 'Tempest in my head'.

A caterpillar's story (and jewelry update) // Histoire de chenille (et update à propos de mes bijoux)

Je suis une grande fan des peintres naturalistes, et de Maria Sibylla Merian en particulier. Cette peintre a su rendre la précision des insectes et de la flore tout en conservant son petit côté poétique et enchanteur.

Je me suis procurée sur internet un très vieil exemplaire d'un de ses livres, j'adore en tourner les pages et admirer la touche fine de l'artiste.

I'm a big fan of naturalist painters in general and  of Maria Sibylla Merian in particular.She was able to restore the precision of the insects and flora while retaining her very own poetic and enchanting style.

I've purchased via internet a very old book of hers, and I love turning its pages and admire the delicate touch of this great artist.

Je ne suis pas aussi talentueuse, loin de là, mais j'ai voulu un peu transposer son style à une illustration contemporaine. Pour garder un caractère un peu surréel, j'ai choisi le pastel sec (entres autres). Les avis me diront si j'ai eu raison ou pas....

I'm not as good as her, far from it, but I wanted to try to  transpose her vision to a contempory illustration. to keep the sureal nature of it all, I chose mainly to use dry pastels. Opinions will tell me if I was right or not....

Je suis aussi en train de fabriquer une série de bijoux à partir de l'illustration de la Sorcière Rousse , et quelques uns de plus à partir d'autres images qui sont tombées sous ma souris ;-)

I am also making a serie of jewels from the Readheaded Witch illustrations, and a few more from other images that have fallen under my mouse ;-)
